The primary role of the senior design engineer is to create mechanical design data (3D models, 2D drawings, schemes and BOMs).
Other duties include:
• Creation of FMEA, User Manuals, CE documentation, design investigations, design reviews, and design reports.
• Design representation at customer PDR, CDR, and FDR review gates.
• Checking design data.
• Assisting the Design Manager with training, quotations, project management, and customer liaison.

What You Need
A minimum of 4 years relevant experience is required, plus:
• The ability to design mechanical structures and create the necessary data sets in a CAD environment.
• The ability to create and complete FMEA, User Manuals, CE documentation, Design investigations, Design Reviews, and Design Reports.
• Knowledge of metallic and non-metallic material properties.
• Knowledge and appreciation of designing for manufacture (DFM) and designing for additive manufacture (DFAM).
• Knowledge of EASA Part 21J Rules for DOAs and Certification Specifications, especially design-related regulations associated with CS25, 27, 29 and FAR, JAR Equivalents.
• Keeping abreast of current and future technologies.
• The ability to communicate clearly and confidently both within the business and externally with customers.
• The ability to integrate into multiple teams and projects and become familiar with company procedures.
• The ability to work independently to provide creative solutions to problems.
• The ability to work efficiently and accurately to a ‘required’ and consistent standard.
• Competence with the engineering tool-set: MS Office, CATIA V5 and/or SOLIDWORKS and/or SIEMENS NX
• The ability to lead a project, with minimal support from the Design Manager
